Odds 11-to-10 that NHL season will be canceled

All that seems to come out of the NHL labor negotiations is pessimism, but maybe Vegas knows something no one else does.

On Monday, the gambling website Bovada.lv released odds on the NHL lockout and they, for one, are leaning to there being a season.

The site had the line for the entire season being canceled as 11/10, while the odds it wouldn’t be canceled at 2/3.

The last proposal from the Players’ Association came on Wednesday, and although it made many financial concessions towards the league and its owners, there was a dismissive attitude from commissioner Gary Bettman.

"We're still far apart,” Bettman told reporters at the time. "But hopefully there's some momentum so we can bring this to a conclusion."

The next step for the union might be to decertify, thus enabling them to take the league to court on anti-trust laws. Bovada chimed in on the odds of that happening, saying decertification has a 4/7 chance of happening, with a 1/1 chance of not.
