David Cook Loses Out To Another 'Idol'

July 13, 2009 ι Jarett Wieselman

While David Cook was able to easily stop David Archuleta from becoming last year's "American Idol," the 26-year-old wasn't able to fend off the aspirational attacks of another singer: Carrie Underwood. While the reigning champ was tipped to provide this year's elimination song -- like "Home" by Daughtry or "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter -- Carrie swooped in and snagged the gig with a cover of Motley Crue's "Home Sweet Home."

I love the song and think it will make for an apt goodbye. To ensure there are no hard feelings, Carrie will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Humane Society. "I've always loved this song and besides being very fitting for 'Idol,' to me, the title is also very fitting with animal rescue and finding animals their own homes," Carrie said.

So listen to a snippet of the song after the jump, which will make its debut on Wednesday's elimination show when Jasmine Murray is sent packing -- just guessing!
