Jessie James makes me want to be a dirty, filthy, scandalous little minx.
No, I'm not talking about the famous outlaw or Sandra Bullock's husband or the porn star. I'm smitten over the smokin' hot songstress who sounds like she could take on all the aforementioned Jessies in a shoot out and still walk away looking flawless.
Petite, power-packed and possessing a vocal range as high as the peaks and valleys her life has already seen, Jessie's been ready for her close-up since the age of 2. When the military brat, born in a field hospital in Italy, started singing into a toy microphone she sent her mom into a state of knee-clackin' shock. From there, it was a simple climb to the top of a very crowded pop music ladder.
By 9, she was composing her own songs and performing at events like the opening of Sea World, the Republican Convention, and working with a string of significant writers in Nashville by 15.
Her debut single "Wanted" is a pure pop track, which offers no fillers besides a few gorgeous "hmmms" and some guitar-pluckin' "dongs" (haha, dong). The equally catchy "Blue Jeans" boasts a hip-hop swagger and tribal percussion in a surprisingly catchy way, which forms a sing-a-long single prime for radio play.
With a self-titled freshman album dropping Aug. 11 and a life of pop stardom ahead of her, it's scary to think that Jessie could have let the soul-swallowing entertainment industry affect her. But the powerful soul behind each of the overconfident notes she's belting out gives me the feeling she'll be just fine.
Oh and get this NYC peeps, Steve Madden and Giant Step present an intimate performance by Jessie James plus DJ Lilypad. Drinks are compliments of Svedka, which means you must be 21 kids! Even better? This event is free with an RSVP. That's right, you know PopWrap brings you the best. RSVP here.
