Stop reading now if you haven't seen the "Sex and the City" movie!
Even at two hours and 15 minutes, writer/director Michael Patrick King still couldn't find a way to fit everything into "Sex and the City." He spoke with MSN Movies about the scenes that got snipped and one in particular has me shedding a tear. An "amazing scene" with John Corbett as Aidan Shaw ended up getting cut out of the film, Michael Patrick said.
Nooooo! Not Aiden, he was the boyfriend I always liked more than Big! Man, it would have been good to see him again, but I see how it could have been a random hiccup along the way for Carrie. Another plot line that didn't make the final film (those DVD extras better be jam-packed!) answers my question, "Where the heck was Harry?"
Apparently there was an underlying plot that Charlotte and Harry had hired a nanny who didn't wear a bra. She was dubbed "Erin Go Braless" by Samantha and apparently it was going to bring up a whole new set of fears for Charlotte.
I'm laughing at the mere thought of it. Truthfully, Kristin Davis was cracking me up more than the other three girls combined during the movie (Her fight with Big! Her Mexican "issues"! Her reaction to Carrie's engagement!) so I can only dream of how much more my stomach would have hurt the next day had those scenes made it.
If getting a glimpse of these deleted scenes on DVD feels too far off for you, don't forget -- there's that novelization of the movie I told you about about here. It has all those excised scenes slotted back in and might be the perfect palate cleanser before the DVD -- or seeing it in theaters again like I will be!
