While I don't hand out buttons or anything, I am a big fan of Katie Holmes' acting. Her performance in "Batman Begins" got a bad rap, but I think had the movie premiered without the shadow of Tom Cruise's initial courtship looming over it, we'd remember her Rachel Dawes much differently.
And let's not forget all the awesome roles that pre-date TomKat's first date -- "Go," "Pieces of April," and that one job interview speech in "Abandon" that still gives me chills. So it's with great hope, and mild expectations, I look toward her next movie, "The Extra Man."
In the movie, out next year, Katie plays Mary -- an eco-obsessed magazine writer who meets Louis (the always amazing Paul Dano) when he takes a job at the publication after getting booted from a Princeton prep school. But I get the sense this is Paul's movie, as the title refers to the gentlemen who escort wealthy widows around Manhattan.
Hmm, wonder if Paul asked Katie for advice on how to be a convincing public escort for an older, millionaire?
