It's been a highly inadvisable 24 hours in "American Idol" land. First, Kris Allen sublets his apartment to fans, then Paula Abdul's contract isn't renewed and now Katherine McPhee has gone blond. For the record, I actually think the color and cut are a nice change. However, the timing is dumber than Kellie Pickler!
Kat dyed her hair specifically for the cover of her new CD, "Unbroken." Don't know about you, but if I were putting out a followup album three years after my first one failed to light the world on fire, I'd be hoping against hope people actually remembered me. What I wouldn't be doing is drastically altering my image on the cover of said CD so that legit fans would walk past the picture and think, "hmm, don't know her."
The season five runner-up acknowledges that "this was a pretty drastic change," and explains the dye job was inspired by her new album. "My music is a little more edgy so that inspired me to be adventurous," she told People. Personally, I think a Posh cut would have been a edgier, image revamping solution. But on the other hand, it's not like the brunette hue worked wonders for her. Maybe Kat's on to something!
Do you think Katherine's dye job was a good idea?
