Nobody's Comin' To Your Remake Louise

July 13, 2009 ι Jarett Wieselman

It was announced today that Ashley Tisdale and her new nose are thinking about starring in a remake of the 80s classic "Teen Witch." I can not even begin to fully express what a terrible idea this is ... but I will try.

First of all, "Teen Witch" achieved cult status because it is a bad movie. Bad script, bad acting, bad clothes, bad effects, bad, bad, bad. But that's why the movie's so good! Louise Miller is pure, unadulterated camp and you can't plan camp. It just happens. Like a gleek.

Case in point: the writers probably thought they were being super hip by integrating musical numbers. They weren't. "Top That" and "I Like Boys" are some of the worst songs ever penned, yet they contribute to the overall cheese factor that makes the movie so darn tasty. The only glimmer of hope on the horizon is that another remake which I was very vocally opposed to, "Adventures in Babysitting" starring Raven Symone, has yet to materialize. So I am hoping against hope that the same will be true of Teen Witch." In fact, just to ensure it, I will say a spell: "Argentum Populorum Sinsarum!"

However, if this film must be made, the producers could make a clever move and cast "Gossip Girl's" Blake Lively since she is the younger sister of Robin Lively, star of the original!
