Ship just got real for Rihanna

July 27, 2010 ι Jarett Wieselman

Guess all that time appropriating a military aesthetic paid off for Rihanna, who will make her feature film debut in 2012's big screen adaptation of board game "Battleship." She joins the already announced cast Taylor Kitsch, Alexander "True Blood" Skarsgard and Tom Arnold -- which makes me think the movie was cast by just blindly clicking on IMDB and seeing who came up.

Funnily enough, Tom's hiring -- although a bit under the radar this April -- wasn't without controversy. After PopWrap's pals at Movieline included "True Lies 2" in a list of 9 Hyped Films That Are Never Gonna Happen, Tom took to the comment section of their site to set the record straight on the future of that spy franchise.

And in the process of tearing them new ones, he said, "Doing Pete Berg’s Battleship in Australia in August." Rihanna's announcement was made through more official and decidedly less angry channels.

Do you think Rihanna will be a good actress?
