My Bubbie was obsessed with Frank Sinatra. I mean, straight up infatuated. Much of my early childhood predominantly featured Old Blue Eyes on the soundtrack. On top of that, I had to do a report on a famous New Jerseyan in the fourth grade and picked Frank. So my knowledge of the man, the myth, the legend is rather vast.
That's why I've been keeping a watchful eye on the upcoming Martin Scorsese biopic and today our first bit of news about the very much still in development project snuck out. "We’re still working on the Sinatra script. It’s very hard because here is a man who changed the entire image of the Italian-American. And that’s just one thing. Along with his political work, civil rights, the Mob," the director told Shortlist.com (via).
Naturally the subject of casting evokes the most interest, and to that end, Martin said that there are four actors at the top of his must work with list. "Johnny Depp is one. I like him. He's unique. I don't know how he does it. George Clooney. Brad Pitt is interesting. And Tobey Maguire. There's a lot of good people."
With this high-profile project on the horizon, any of them would be fools not to reach out and say, "Marty, I'm interested." But at the end of the day, I'm sure Scorsese will just let Leonardo DiCaprio do it his way.
Who do you think should play Sinatra?

George Clooney and Brad Pitt are not believable in this role. The audience will never go for it.Leo is another poor choice. And besides, only Frank could play Frank.

Anyone but Clooney...please! DiCaprio for young Sinatra and Spacey for older Frank.
