Fans of “Boardwalk Empire” are in for a blast this season.
A gaggle of gawkers in Greenpoint got a sneak peek at the third season of “Empire” Thursday night with the filming of an explosion at its North Brooklyn lot, a miniature recreation of Atlantic City’s early 1920s boardwalk.
Sources say that, in the show, the explosion rocks Babette’s Supper Club, a speakeasy and favorite haunt of crime boss Enoch “Nucky” Thompson (Steve Buscemi).
The pyrotechnic display went off at about 10:45 p.m. at the corner of Commercial and Franklin Streets.
Between 50 and 75 spectators could see a tall plume of white smoke and the flicker of flames. Onlookers were kept about a block away.
Season 3 of “Boardwalk Empire” starts Sept. 16 on HBO.
