Leonard GreeneLET'S be clear about a few things.
When anxious white cops kill their black colleagues in the line of duty without ever losing so much as a day's pay, that is a serious racial problem.
When a black man is racially profiled and arrested in his own home for challenging a white cop who mistakes him for a burglar, that is a serious racial problem.
But when a black governor performs worse than the Mets and tries to blame his declining popularity on a media-driven racial attack, that is not a serious racial problem.
That is a joke.
We couldn't actually see Gov. Paterson on Friday when he went on a radio program and made a fool of himself with his racial-conspiracy nonsense. But it is safe to assume that he did it with a straight face.
Paterson's paranoia doesn't mean they're not out to get him. But the truth is that this governor has been in free fall since the Caroline Kennedy debacle. Secret pay raises and late-night party hopping didn't help, either.
To be fair, Paterson did raise a few excellent points in the radio interview: There aren't enough blacks in the media to balance coverage. President Obama is the target of a racist backlash. (Come on, rifles at a health-care rally?)
And Paterson's assessment that we've jumped the gun on a post-racial America is on target.
But much of America has already tuned out even the most legitimate cries of racism.
If people follow Paterson's lead and cry wolf from the steps of the Capitol, the country might stop listening completely.

You are right Leonard. The race card has been over played. Whenever its thrown, I personally automatically assume the other party is right.

So are the people sending all the death threats and carrying 'Curious George' dolls and making the 'witch doctor' pictures black too?!! And what momma's boy Jim Crowlaw couldn't handle Gates comments WELL TOO FREAKINGN BAD!! If he's that thin-skinned he needs a new job and you bett your backside if cops came into MY home like they owned the place they would get worse than 'cursed out'. And what about Jesse and Al?! Are they the arbitrators for the ENTIRE black race now they don't speak for all black people anymore than Glenn Beck or Flush Limbaugh speak for you. Or judging from the hateful comments maybe they do.

Mr.Greene, your myopia is mind boggling..In spite of the facts staring you and the rest of the thinking world in your face, how can you still refer to the Gates affair as anything other than it was? Henry Lewis Gates was not, I repeat, WAS NOT, arrested in his own house. He was arrested after following the officer onto the porch and creating a public disturbance. The man thinks he is above the law because of the color of his skin, and the sad truth is, he's right. Instead of whining about being "the poor put upon black man", he should thank his stars that the officer didn't knock his teeth down his throat for making disparaging remarks about his mother.

From the cradle God,Family and personal responsbilty.Youth today are concern with street credibilty and choose to wear pants off/below rear end,doo-rags,tatoos,N word greetings/conversation,refer to women as B and H words, confrontational attitude/demeanor.Innocent youth then fall victim to gang violence.
