A hit-and-run driver struck an 8-year-old boy in Bushwick earlier this evening, cops said.
Witnesses said the youngster was playing outside near Knickerbocker Avenue and Schaefer Street shortly before 8 p.m when he stepped out into the street and was hit by a black Lincoln Town Car that immediately sped up and fled the scene. The boy flew up onto the hood of the car and hit the windshield.
“His father said, ‘Oh my God’ and tried to run after the car but he sped off,” said the boy’s godmother Argelia Liriano, 22, who witnessed the accident.
Witnesses said the boy lay on the street conscious but had blood coming out of the back of his head.
“He was conscious and talking but he just kept saying he couldn’t move his body,” said Liriano.
“He was trying to comfort his mom--he was saying ‘I’m OK mom, don’t cry’, but he was really hurt,” she said.
Police said the boy was rushed to Brookdale Hospital where he is expected to survive.
