‘Hairspray’ author dies at 58

The Tony Award-winning author who co-wrote the book of the hit Broadway musical “Hairspray” died yesterday in the lobby of his Upper West Side building, his brother said.
Mark O’Donnell, 58, a prolific writer of novels, poems and plays, had become ill while walking outside his home at 202 Riverside Drive, said Steve O’Donnell.
Cause of death had not been determined.
