She’s the defense’s best witness.
The woman who claims she was raped by the TV-anchor son of Police Commissioner Ray Kelly was so forthcoming in her sit-downs with investigators that they believe the sex was consensual, sources told The Post.
The accuser, whose name The Post is withholding, has had two extended conversations with officials in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office since filing a rape allegation Tuesday against Greg Kelly, the sources disclosed.
But her interviews have suggested to the veteran investigators that she came forward only after pressure from her boyfriend.
“This is such a common kind of situation, a delayed report driven by a boyfriend or husband after finding out what happened,” one source said.
Another said that, so far, “there are no facts in favor of [prosecuting]” Kelly, a former Marine pilot.
The tryst occurred Oct. 8 when the two met for drinks at a bar at the South Street Seaport after a chance encounter on a street two days earlier.
The 29-year-old paralegal freely admitted that she was star-struck meeting the co-anchor of “Good Day New York” and told him, “You’re so cute.’’
After that, they began “sexting” leading up to their rendezvous.
Perhaps most damning was her disclosure that she continued texting with Kelly after their romp in the law office where she works, hoping to set up another hookup.
The text messages from her phone “say in substance, ‘Do you want to meet up again?’ ’’ according to a law-enforcement source.
“The texts sounded like she enjoyed her time with him and was asking if they would meet up again,” the source said. “She has been forthright with the investigation and showed texts that have her not acting like a rape victim.”
In all, the pair exchanged 17 texts, the last of which was sent two days after they had sex. It wasn’t clear whether they had any communication after that.
The woman, whose brother is a sergeant in the NYPD, has insisted during her meetings with the DA that she was too intoxicated to reject Kelly’s advances, sources said.
The woman, an aspiring model and actress, became pregnant and had an abortion.
She has told authorities it was Kelly’s child.
Her boyfriend confronted Ray Kelly at a public event and told the commissioner that his son “ruined my girlfriend’s life.”
Despite their initial doubts, investigators, led by longtime sex-crimes prosecutor Martha Bashford, are charging ahead with a probe of the woman’s claims.
Officials are seeking video footage of Kelly and the woman entering the downtown law-firm office or at the bar. They also want to talk to witnesses who may have seen them.
They have yet to interview Greg Kelly, and his attorney has not produced his phone or any printouts of his texts, the sources said.
Kelly hasn’t been seen since Thursday and has taken a leave of absence from his job on Fox 5. The station is owned by The Post’s parent company, News Corp.
The DA’s Office declined to comment.
