Battle over tightrope tab

NIAGARA FALLS — The city of Niagara Falls says daredevil Nik Wallenda still owes about $25,000 for public-safety costs from last month’s tightrope walk across the falls, and it’s having a tough time collecting.

Mayor Paul Dyster said state legislation that granted permission for the walk required that Wallenda cover security and law-enforcement costs.

Wallenda representatives didn’t immediately respond to messages yesterday.
