He’s got Obama envy.
That’s what the mother of US Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. attributes to her son’s ”mood disorder,” saying that the congressman has struggled with “enormous disappointment” over the past few years.
“He thought he was going to be a senator. He thought he was going to have a chance to run for mayor. And young people don’t bounce back from disappointment like me and my husband,” Jacqueline Jackson said at a speech on Friday, according to a CBS station in Chicago.
Jackson Jr. was once in line to succeed Obama in the US Senate — but his dreams were dashed when he became caught up in the corruption scandal of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Jackson Jr. has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
