WASHINGTON — Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts is suddenly public enemy No. 1 in conservative America after his ruling on ObamaCare this week.
Roberts (pictured) yesterday quipped that he was fleeing to an “impregnable island fortress” after casting the decisive vote to uphold ObamaCare.
That’s probably a good idea, since he has become a target for scorn on America’s talk-radio airwaves and across the conservative blogosphere.
Roberts told a judicial conference in Pennsylvania yesterday that he’s getting away for a two-week teaching gig this summer on the Mediterranean island-nation of Malta.
“Malta, as you know, is an impregnable island fortress. It seemed like a good idea,” Roberts joked.
Calls of “impeach John Roberts” reverberated on blogs and #ImpeachRoberts propagated across the twitterverse after he sided with the four Democratic-nominated justices to save ObamaCare.
“Justice Roberts is a TRAITOR. Along with all the damn LIBERALS on court. IMPEACH IMPEACH IMPEACH #SCOTUS,” tweeted @jensan1332.
