Ed Burns took inspiration from friends for his film “The Fitzgerald Family Christmas,” about a a dysfunctional family. During an American Express screening at the Tribeca Grand, Burns explained his pals told him stories of growing up in a family so large, “The older kids didn’t even know the little kids.” He added, “The older kids thought the dad was a total piece of [bleep] because he’s a drunk and unemployed.” At the event were Burns’ wife, Christy Turlington, Brian Williams and Rachel Dratch.
