The Olympics haven’t been the only game in London Town, which is crawling with VIPs this week. Designer Diane von Furstenberg has been seen at the Olympic Aquatics Centre, as well as a US men’s basketball game, but also at high-end hotel Claridge’s pop-up eatery A Taste of Noma. We’re told DvF, who’s keeping an online Olympics diary for Vogue, was given a sneak peek at the restaurant by René Redzepi, head chef at famed Noma in Copenhagen. (For Olympic eaters, the menu features live ants in one dish.) In a less rarefied, but perhaps equally legendary, London setting, former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher was spotted in the wings Wednesday night at the 100 Club to watch Paul Weller, former frontman for the Jam, play an intimate gig for the Converse Represent series. Also at the venue that’s played home to Louis Armstrong, the Sex Pistols and the Rolling Stones was pioneering UK DJ Norman Jay. Olympians LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant have also been hitting hot spots hard, including Mayfair’s Funkybuddha.
