UTLEY'S 17TH LIFTS PHILS TO SWEEP

Chase Utley hit his major-league-leading 17th homer last night to help Adam Eaton earn his first win, and the Phillies beat the Rockies 6-1 in Philadelphia to complete a three-game sweep.

Reds 9, Pirates 1

In Cincinnati, David Ross' homer put the finishing touch on a six-run first inning off left-hander Tom Gorzelanny, and the Reds extended their home winning streak to nine games.

Giants 11, D'backs 3

In Phoenix, Ray Durham drove in four runs with a solo homer and a three-run single and San Francisco spoiled Doug Davis' homecoming. Davis (2-2) was making his second start, first at home, since returning from surgery to remove his cancerous thyroid gland. He allowed six runs on nine hits in five innings.

Brewers 1, Braves 0

In Milwaukee, Rickie Weeks delivered a run-scoring triple in the eighth to make a winner of Jeff Suppan (3-4), who baffled the Braves over eight innings.

Cubs 2, Dodgers 1 (10)

In Chicago, Alfonso Soriano singled in the winning run in the 10th as the Cubs completed a three-game sweep.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Mariners 1, Red Sox 0

In Seattle, Erik Bedard (4-3) allowed just two hits in seven innings and Yuniesky Betancourt homered as Boston lost for the 10th time in 12 games away from Fenway Park.

Rays 5, Rangers 3

In St. Petersburg, Matt Garza (4-1) pitched a career-high eight innings to lead first-place Tampa Bay. The Rays have won nine of their last 11 series.

Blue Jays 2, Athletics 1

In Oakland, Alex Rios hit a tiebreaking RBI double in the ninth that helped secure the win for Roy Halladay (6-5).

White Sox 6, Indians 5

In Cleveland, Carlos Quentin drove in three runs as the AL Central-leading White Sox won for the fifth time in six tries.

Twins 9, Royals 8

In Kansas City, Justin Morneau hit a leadoff homer in the 10th inning after the Twins rallied with five runs in the ninth to hand the Royals its 10th straight loss.
