John McCain yesterday reported raising $22 million in May and will be fishing for more dollars in New York.
McCain is slated to attend a high-roller bash at the '21' Club on Tuesday night.
Event organizers include hedge-fund honcho and former Rudy Giuliani supporter Paul Singer, Merrill Lynch CEO John Thain, JPMorgan executive James Lee, and investment titans Henry Kravis and Ted Forstmann.
McCain needs every penny as he goes up against Democrat Barack Obama's fund-raising machine in the general election.
Obama, who has not released his May figures, raised a staggering $272 million through April, nearly triple what McCain collected over the same period.
