Sunday's giant Puerto Rican Day Parade will be policed by about 1,000 uniformed officers, a 10 percent decrease from last year.
The force will be augmented by 120 plainclothes Gang Unit detectives and an unspec- ified number of Intelligence Unit officers.
Also, NYPD lawyers will be on hand in each of six zones along the Fifth Avenue parade route.
That's because of a controversy last year when 208 people were busted in a police crackdown on gangs.
Some of those arrested said they were picked up simply because they wore the gold and black colors of the Latin Kings gang.
