June 7, 2008 -- HANG in there, Knicks fans, things can only get better. That's the word from legendary Earl "The Pearl" Monroe , who helped carry the once-great team to its 1973 NBA title. "It's been terrible watching them, knowing where we came from. And for the fans to have to suffer like this - you have to commend them for coming out and filling the arena every night," Monroe told us at the Johnnie Walker Blue Label bash at the Campbell Apartment this week. He added, "Hopefully, [new coach] Mike D'Antoni will get these guys moving and we can be 1973 all over again."
