CRACKDOWN ON PENSION FRAUD

AP

June 24, 2008

ALBANY - State legislators are backing a law to prohibit so-called double dipping when a private-practice attorney collects state pension benefits for school-district work.

The bill would make pension fraud a felony. Attorney General Andrew Cuomo is investigating the decades-old practice.

Some law firms and lawyers have already settled with Cuomo, paying back $900,000 in benefits.
