Bogus-firefighter sex fiend Peter Braunstein had more than two decades piled on to his 18-years-to-life prison sentence yesterday, but said it means nothing - since he plans to be dead soon.
"I'm trying to orchestrate my own murder," the 44-year-old psychopath said in an interview, minutes after being sentenced in Cincinnati for attacking a doctor there.
He'd been on the lam as authorities hunted him for dressing as a firefighter and terrorizing a Chelsea woman for 13 hours on Halloween 2005.
"It's not as far-fetched as you think," he said. "It will happen soon, maybe as soon as Christmas. That's a pretty depressing time of year."
Braunstein pleaded guilty to attacking the doctor and got 23 years.
If he's paroled in New York, he'll be shipped to Ohio to start that stretch.
"That [parole] is predicated on the belief that I would live," he said. "There was an absurdist quality to this proceeding, because I'm never getting out of prison in New York.
"It's not very hard. I've always been kind of a Hamlet character."
He had stabbed himself several times in the throat while under arrest in Memphis nearly two months after his horrific attack, and wishes he'd died then.
"Unfortunately, they saved my life," he said.
Speaking calmly and sincerely, he said he needed to be locked up to control his criminal urges.
"It just came out of the woodwork, and I became a psychopath," he said. "I got off on breaking into people's houses. It was more of a violation of their mental sanctity, if you know what I mean."
