A criminal whose 20-year rap sheet includes robbery, burglary and weapon charges will get a shot at freedom now that an appeals court has tossed his latest conviction because a judge "abused [his] discretion" at trial.
The three Second Circuit judges said Eugene Crawford was entitled to a new trial after Brooklyn federal Judge Edward Korman let a special agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives testify two days into jury deliberations.
