As a rule, blanco tequilas are feeble counterparts to their aged brethren. And when I learned that Luna Sueño distills its spirits no less than four times, I assumed its take on the blanco would be an anemic affair. Happily, this is one pale pour that upends most notions of the growing blanco segment. Peppery with strong citrus notes and a spicy, lustrous finish, it deserves a place in a snifter, never a shooter. While many blancos seem distilled specifically for the Cadillac margarita trade, Luna Sueño ($50) is one of the rare examples that'll stand on its own next to some of Mexico's best reposados and añejos.
