AFTER a summer filled with reunions of blast-from-the-past acts like the Yazoo Band (or "Yaz" as they're more popularly known), the Verve, Extreme and Soul Asylum, it looks like the trend of nearly forgotten musicians hitting the road is extending into the fall. It's hard to predict whether or not the bands you loved in your youth will be able to live up to your memories - but we're hoping for the best from these bands. After all, we never thought we'd hear from them again!

SMASHING PUMPKINS
Expected in November; venue TBA
When half the band doesn't show up to play, are you really seeing the band? It's a deep philosophical question that'll be answered when the Pumpkins finally announce their NYC date, to coincide with their 20th anniversary. Frontman Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin are banking on the fact that fans won't care that guitarist James Iha and bassist D'Arcy Wretzky are sitting this tour out (they had a massive falling out when the band broke up in 2000).
