Sen. Charles Schumer will grill members of the US Railroad Retirement Board today over the LIRR "Gravy Train" disability-pension scam. Schumer has called board officials to his Manhattan office this morning to explain why they gave federal disability pensions to virtually every retired LIRR worker who applied.
Schumer, who has said such pensions "must not be given away like candy on Halloween," will be joined at his office by Long Island Rep. Tim Bishop (D-Southampton) and staffers representing Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Ted Kennedy.
