'Meet' the bounce
After a month of scary rat ings drops - and dire predic tions that its long run as the dominant Sunday morning news show may be ending - "Meet the Press" has bounced back.
The show, now hosted by Tom Brokaw, was again the top-ranked Sunday show over CBS' Bob Schieffer and ABC's George Stephanopoulos.
The audience for "MTP" was about 4.2 million people versus 3.2 million for ABC and CBS.
The Post reported earlier in the week that the NBC show has been declining in popu larity since the death of long time moderator Tim Russet last summer.
Ch. 11 nostalgia: "Chiller The atre," which aired nearly con tinuously on WPIX from 1961-'82 - remember the hand coming up out of the ground? - is returning, at least for one night. Ch. 11 will air the 1955 cult classic "Tarantula" on Sat urday, Oct. 25 (8 p.m.) in the "Chiller Theatre" format - with John Zacherley reprising his TV alter- ego, "The Cool Ghoul." They'll even show the original "Chiller Theatre" opening with the six-fingered hand.
And Ch. 11's "The Magic Gar den" (Carole Demas, Paula Janis), which aired from 1972-84, is out on DVD Tues day. Demas and Janis, who still perform regularly, will be in Bayshore (Long Island) Oct. 25.
Also out on DVD: "Will & Grace: The Complete Series Collection." Former "W&G" star Debra Messing's "The Starter Wife" kicks off its new season tonight at 9 on USA.
Last, but not least:
* Tonight: "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin narrates the New York Philharmonic's "In side the Music" (8 p.m.).
* "American Idol" judges Paula Abdul and Kara DioGu ardi will be here tomorrow (5:30 p.m.) for the Columbus Citizens Foundation Fund raiser (the Waldorf).
