HARVEY Weinstein and Scott Rudin should just step into the ring and slug it out. After months of feuding with Weinstein over the release date of "The Reader" (Rudin thought Harvey was rushing it), the Oscar-winning producer has now walked away from the movie. This week, he yanked his name from the credits of Stephen Daldry's romantic drama with Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes. Earlier this year, Daldry, with Rudin backing him, complained there was no way he could edit and deliver the film this year. Then, last month, the trio pretended to make nice, announcing they'd patched things up and Weinstein would get a Dec. 12 release. But Rudin is now out, and neither he nor Weinstein would comment yesterday. Co-producer Donna Gigliotti said she was "surprised" by Rudin's sudden exit but insisted the film "is on track and testing well."
