ALBANY - State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos said yesterday that New York is nearing an agreement to install thousands of lucrative video slot machines at Aqueduct racetrack and provide the state with $370 million up front.
But the Republican said the Senate is insisting that the video-machine casino at the Queens track includes plans for more local jobs and neighborhood improvements through spinoff businesses.
The proposal on the table yesterday was from Delaware North Companies Gaming and Entertainment, based in Buffalo. It would provide $370 million up front, the most immediate cash from any of the three bidders.
There was no immediate comment from Gov. Paterson or the Assembly.
